What Is Ayurveda?

It is an eastern system of alternative medicine that considers the body’s fundamental elements, or ‘Doshas’ - Vata (air and space), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (water and earth); encouraging a way of life that promotes healing and enabling their delicate balance.

Days Of Program

Your Dosha & Lifestyle

Doshas are the fundamental elements of our body, according to Ayurveda. An imbalance in these elements can cause various illnesses and disturbances in our bodies. The beauty of Ayurveda is that even though it stems from ancient eastern medicine, its principles are fully operational even in the modern age. We live in a fast-paced world surrounded by gadgets and digital media. While our circumstances have changed, the fundamentals of our bodies remain the same.

Vata - The Air & Space Element

Generally, if your Vata is over-stimulated, it needs to be calmed down by eating warmer, heavier, moist foods with some ‘‘good oils’’. Another way to cool your Vata down is Meditation.

Pitta - The Fire & Water Element

An aggravated Pitta can cause you to feel fiery, aggressive. At these times, it is important to eat cooling foods and avoid exercises that could increase the heat in your body.

Kapha - The Water & Earth Element

An imbalance Kapha can make you feel dull and lethargic. For such an excessive Kapha constitution, regular exercise is highly encouraged. To bring back the Kapha balance, eating light food, warm meals, and walking after eating is extremely beneficial.
